Our Rustic Engagement

They are hereeeeee! We only had our engagement shoot last Saturday and we thought it would take awhile to get them back, but we had them in our hands in record time!

We were told they were ready to be picked up, but as we had other commitments, we wouldn't be able to get them until next weekend. But K, the sneaky thing, surprised me last night when he came over! I can't believe how good they are, and Neiyo did an AMAZING job capturing us. I can't wait for her to do our wedding photography!

We kept our photos simple, with limited decoration, so we only had vintage books, suitcases and a basket full of iced donuts and cupcakes. (and they were delicious by the way!) So what do you think? Don't we look like a totally loved up couple?!! Enjoy! :)

Sneak Peek: Our Engagement Session

K and I finally got to have our engagement photography session today with our very talented wedding photographer Neiyo Sun. (You can view Neiyo's amazing work here on her blog) I was nervous about a week before the session because I was worried all our preparation & hard work finding props, wasn't going to be enough. I needed to have not worried as we had more than enough, and everything looked just as we wanted it to be!

We wanted our session to be rustic/country/relaxed, as our wedding will be just that - so we wanted to keep things on the same level and not be too formal and boring! I even got up early and went to the local hair salon (which from K's house is 5 minutes away!) and had my hair put into an up-do, I found the style on Pintrest and thought it would suit. I LOVED this hairstyle, and Dee from Madeeka did a fantastic job of recreating it from the image I sent her. I think she'll become my hairdresser when I finally move to Melbourne :)

I should have a sneak peek of our session on either Sunday or Monday, and we won't get the official photos for about 2 weeks. I can't WAIT to see them. So stay tuned!

My Wedding Dress Arrived Today!

After a long wait since June, my wedding dress for our September wedding next year finally arrived! It arrived in one of those soft flat pack parcels, but inside was this lovely package. I opened it up and had a sneaky peak and the dress was just as beautiful as I saw it on the website. My mum wasn't home at the time, so I waited a long time for her to come back so I could try it on and share the experience together!

Yes, I bought my wedding dress online. You may think that doing that is a little bit crazy, and yes I thought so too, but after looking in the bridal shops here, I didn't find anything I really liked, or didn't flatter me, or suit my personality. This particular one took my eye straight away, it's simple, elegant, rustic and very me. Needless to say I placed a custom order right away!

It was quite amazing that a talented designer could create this dress thousands of miles away for me, just by me giving my measurements - and she was right on with sizing! (I would give a link, but I don't want my future husband finding my dress!)

If anyone is thinking about buying their wedding dress online - I recommend it, but make sure you do your research. Read reviews, read anything you can find on the designer, and try on similar designs to see if it flatters you. I'm a big believer in if you can get something of amazing quality online, for half the price that's in a bridal store, then go for it!

Have you ever bought your wedding dress online? If so, what was the verdict?
